Jameel thrives on the challenge of efficiently crafting a tailored solution for each client. He understands this sometimes requires innovation beyond the four corners of traditional legal practice, but he is also a fearless advocate who has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. Prior to joining Colson Winterstein LLP, Jameel practiced at a national law firm and subsequently a regional boutique litigation firm.
Jameel practices all aspects of employment law but focuses on acting for employees with complex compensation structures who have been wrongfully or constructively dismissed. Jameel also advises employers on employment-related liability issues and litigates corporate and shareholder disputes.
Strengthening access to justice and maintaining social responsibility are important values for Jameel. He has volunteered with Lawyers Feed the Hungry through the Law Society Foundation to provide meal service to those in need. He also volunteers as pro bono counsel for the Pro Bono Appeals Project run by Pro Bono Ontario, through which Jameel has appeared before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal on a pro bono basis for those who qualify for Pro Bono Ontario’s services.
Jameel also prioritizes mentorship. In addition to mentoring young lawyers at the firm, Jameel acts as a mentor for students and junior lawyers through the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the South Asian Bar Association.
